Diversity / Inclusion

Join us for our Yoga & Equity Symposium “Embracing Yoga’s Roots” on Nov. 12, 12 – 4 p.m. ET

Every time we take a class, study, or step onto our yoga mat for practice, we renew our connection to the wisdom of yoga and our lineage. It is this connection that supports and calls us to engage skillfully with our world and to recognize our lives as the field of practice.

In our Iyengar Yoga community, we have begun the work needed to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. This work is internal to us and external to us. Its impact ripples out into the wider communities to which we are connected.

Within the world of yoga, experts and leaders have emerged who have been steeped in both yoga and DEIJ. We have heard from experts within Iyengar Yoga, and now we are pleased to bring a perspective from the wider yoga community.

Susanna Barkataki brings subject-matter expertise and passion, as well as yoga classroom experience. We welcome her for this special session of the Yoga and Equity Symposium: “Embracing Yoga’s Roots,” a workshop based on the framework presented in her book, “Embrace Yoga’s Roots, Courageous Ways to Deepen Your Yoga Practice.”

All are welcome. This event is offered free of charge. We encourage and welcome all donations to support future programming.

We hope you can attend. Please register even if you can’t make it so we know of your interest and receive the links to the recording and the pre-and post-meeting materials.

We welcome your thoughts, suggestions, and help!  Please email equitychair@iynaus.org.
