Birthday Celebrations - December 2025

December brings two birthdays that invite the whole Iyengar Yoga community to gather, study, and honor two teachers.

December 7 celebrates Geeta Iyengar.

Historically, her Friday night classes were a highlight at RIMYI. On Friday, December 12, at 6:00 pm ET, a live audio stream of one of those classes will play on Zoom, paired with demonstrators on screen so everyone can follow her teaching. Studios are encouraged to open their doors, welcome students in, and practice together.

December 14 honors B.K.S. Iyengar.

The 1990 Chicago recording, The Art of Teaching, will be released for community study. This session offers a rare look at Guruji guiding many students who later became senior teachers. IYNAUS acknowledges that many regions and studios have their own plans to celebrate this special day. The recording will be available permanently under Member Benefits. Members may watch anytime. Studios can host group viewings to learn from this historic class.
