Ethical Guidelines on Sexual Misconduct Awareness, Prevention & Response for IYNAUS CIYTs.

We are happy to offer online training for IYNAUS Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers, Ethical Guidelines on Sexual Misconduct Awareness, Prevention & Response. IYNAUS collaborated with RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization, to customize this training for the community of IYNAUS CIYTs.

All IYNAUS CIYTs are required to complete the training by attending a live session, when available, or watching the recording and completing the post-training learning assessment (online survey) every three years.

You will be able to watch the recording of the training by registering for this event. The deadline for completing the training and the post-training learning assessment (a brief online survey) is December 10th for CIYTs who pass assessment in 2021. Along with successful completion of your Level 1 teaching assessment, you are required to complete the RAINN training by 12/10/2021 to register as a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher in good standing through IYNAUS. The non-refundable registration fee for the training is $15. The deadline for existing CIYTs is as soon as possible and before renewing.

Please note that CIYTs must also read the Ethical Guidelines to Prevent Verbal Abuse, Sexual Harassment, and Physical Abuse document annually. Please review the document before viewing the RAINN training. Among other benefits, the training will help provide background and context to some of the guidelines, including the importance of obtaining consent, creating a trauma-informed environment, and cultivating appropriate teacher-student relationships. RAINN’s stated goals aim to deepen CIYT's understanding of essential concepts surrounding sexual misconduct while equipping all participants with key prevention and response strategies. We hope that the session provides a shared language and understanding of the complexities of sexual misconduct to help navigate the difficult conversations required to create a safer, healthier community.
