The Iyengar National Yoga Association of the United States was incorporated in 1991. Prior to that, Iyengar Associations in various parts of the U.S. worked separately. But just as the founding fathers of our country understood the need for unity, so did our yoga father. At the suggestion of B.K.S. Iyengar, the national organization was founded to better serve the growing community of students and teachers.
Benefits vary from region to region but often include workshops, newsletters, scholarships, lending libraries, and other services. Membership in a regional association automatically grants membership in IYNAUS as membership fees are shared. Dues vary from one region to the next because the regional associations set their portion of the dues according to their needs.
Members may join any regional association but generally choose according to geography. Regionals provide an opportunity to network with those in your area who share a love of Iyengar Yoga. Note that boundaries are not strict. Contact a region that interests you to learn more about benefits and membership fees.
